Gynecomastia & Male Chest · Fort Myers, FL

You Don't Have to Live With It

Male chest reduction at Exert BodySculpt — whether you have been told you have gynecomastia or you just know something is off.

Plenty of men spend years working out, dieting, and layering shirts over a chest that will not change, because glandular tissue does not respond to either. If that sounds familiar, a consultation will tell you what is actually going on and what can be done about it.

Start Where You Are

Gynecomastia or Just Stubborn Chest Fat — We See Both

Some men come in with a diagnosis. A lot more come in knowing something bothers them but not sure what to call it.

Both are completely fine starting points. You do not need to have worked out whether it is gynecomastia or stubborn chest fat before you get in touch — that is our job, not yours.

At your consultation we look at what is actually going on, explain it in plain language, and talk through your options honestly. If surgery is not the right answer for you, we will tell you that too.

Two Different Things

Which One Is It?

They look the same in the mirror. They are not the same underneath, and they are not treated the same way.

Glandular

Gynecomastia

Enlarged male breast tissue involving actual glandular growth. It can be driven by hormonal changes, genetics, and other factors, and it does not respond to training or dieting because the tissue is not fat.

  • Glandular tissue removed surgically
  • Often combined with liposuction for contour
  • Not something the gym can fix

Fatty

Pseudogynecomastia

Enlarged male chest caused by excess fat without glandular growth. It looks like gynecomastia from the outside but is structurally different, and it is usually associated with carrying extra weight.

  • Treated with power‑assisted liposuction
  • No glandular tissue to remove
  • Also treatable at Exert BodySculpt

Straight Answers

No jargon and no hedging. If you want more detail than this, ask for it in the consultation and you will get it.

The Procedure

What the Procedure Looks Like

01

Small, placed incisions

Incisions are made along the border of the areola or in the armpit, positioned to keep them as inconspicuous as possible.

02

Tissue, fat, or both

Glandular tissue is removed surgically where it is present. Where the issue is fat, we use power‑assisted liposuction, which lets the surgeon work precisely around nerves and blood vessels.

03

Typically one to three hours

The length depends on the technique and how much is being addressed. You go home the same day.

04

Compression from day one

Incisions are closed and a compression garment is fitted to support the chest and manage swelling while you heal.

Recovery

What Recovery Actually Looks Like

A man sitting on a sofa at home in daylight, looking at his phone
  1. 1

    The first days

You go home the same day in a compression garment. Activity is restricted early on to protect the incisions, and discomfort is managed with prescribed medication.

  2. 2

    Week one

The garment stays on to control swelling. Bruising, swelling, numbness, and tightness across the chest are normal and start improving. Most patients get back to non‑strenuous work within a week or two.

  3. 3

    Weeks two to five

Sutures dissolve or are removed. Swelling continues to settle each week and bruising fades. Normal activity gradually resumes, though heavy lifting stays off the table for longer.

  4. 4

    Beyond

Most of the visible change shows up in the first month or two, with the final result taking several months as swelling fully resolves and scars mature. Recovery varies between individuals.

Candidacy

Who This Works Well For

01

Good general health

No medical conditions that would impair healing or add risk.

02

Chest tissue to address

There is glandular tissue, excess fat, or both. If breast tissue is still developing through puberty, we may suggest waiting.

03

Reasonable skin elasticity

Skin that can retract to the new contour gives the cleanest result. Where elasticity is limited, we will tell you what that means for your outcome.

04

Realistic expectations

This procedure addresses tissue, fat, and skin. It does not change muscle. Knowing that up front tends to mean a happier result.

Questions

The Questions Men Actually Ask

Do I need a diagnosis before booking a consultation?

No. You can come in not knowing exactly what is going on, and we will work it out together. Most men who contact us have not been formally diagnosed — they just know something bothers them.

How do I know if it is gynecomastia or just chest fat?

That is what the consultation is for. Gynecomastia involves actual glandular breast tissue. Pseudogynecomastia looks similar but is excess fat without that glandular growth. They look alike from the outside and are treated differently, which is why an in-person examination matters.

Either way, both are treatable here. You do not need to know which one you have before you call.

Is this surgery or liposuction?

It depends on what is actually there. If there is glandular tissue, it is removed surgically. If it is primarily fat, we use power‑assisted liposuction. Many patients need a combination of both, and that is decided after Dr. Giselle examines you.

Pending confirmation. Amy/Dr. Giselle to confirm anesthesia type and setting for this procedure.

What is recovery like?

You go home the same day, wearing a compression garment that supports the chest and helps manage swelling. Most patients return to non‑strenuous work within a week or two, and gradually resume normal activity after that. Heavy lifting is off the table for longer.

Swelling, bruising, and tightness across the chest are normal early on and improve week by week. Final results take several months as swelling fully resolves and scars mature. Recovery varies between individuals.

What does it cost?

Pricing depends on the extent of the procedure and whether glandular tissue removal, liposuction, or both are needed. You will get a detailed quote at your consultation before committing to anything.

Pending confirmation. Amy to confirm whether a price or range can be published here.

Is this covered by insurance?

Male chest reduction is generally treated as a cosmetic procedure. We will be straight with you about what to expect on cost at your consultation, and we work with third‑party financing partners if that helps.

Pending confirmation. Amy/Dr. Giselle to confirm the practice's position on insurance for male chest cases specifically.
